I have a strange problem here… I have my HP notebook with dual boot Vista and Ubuntu. I connect to internet using my WIFI – WAN of my notebook PC. It was working very fine all day for quite long time.. But it started suddenly on one day …. showing unidentified network. I had defraged my registry the previous day.. but not sure if that would be the reason… I had uploaded previous backup of my registry but in vain. Googled and tried all solutions..nothing worked..except uninstalling the NIC (the connection is through BROADCOM wireless) I am now thinking of reinstalling the OS.

But my notebook PC is a dual boot one, which I have installed UBUNTU as well. UBUNTU connects perfectly to internet..

I have a desktop PC which is also connected wirelessly using a USB wireless network connection. This one works perfectly as well.

Thanks in advance for any valuable suggestions before I go about re-installing the OS

I have this irritating problem of LONC whenever I put a 20m lan cable instead of the shorter 1m cable.

1.I am trying to connect a 2nd computer with an old wireless modem called Huawei.
2.LAN connects with 100mbps speed with the short cable, no problem
3.Problem began when I tried to connect the 2nd computer using a 20m cable – Limited or no connectivity
4.I removed all cables and tried using this lengthy cable on my original pc, still – LONC
5.I put my short cable and it works fine!
6.I took the long cable and checked whether its working on another modem in my friend’s house and it works pretty fine! His is a Linksys and a different ISP – So no problem with the cable.

Could this mean my modem is at fault? Or could this be an ISP problem? Please help!

Just THIS week I’ve had this problem. Router is Netgear and my laptop is a Gateway using Vista Home Premium. it was working fine with the wireless router I’ve had, but it wasn’t until after a trip over the weekend that when I got back, it refused to connect properly. At times it will connect, but not to the point of using the internet with similar messages in the Network and Sharing Center saying Unidentified Network and the connection is always Limited….

I had our cable guy show up and he’s pretty sure its the computer since he checked out the router. He even tried to direct link it with a cable and still no changes. But whats odd is that I actually didn’t really do anything with my computer since I took it on that trip. I never connected to anything online since I left, so I’m puzzled to how this problem happened. And just to let you know, its not security key issues since mines are simple enough to remember.

My PS3 and Ipod connect to this fine……

Hi Mohamed,
please check your wireless network connection, was it a security enabled network? Usually, if the problem occurred on wireless connection, its due to the wrong key entered. double check your WEP settings again.

Hi everyone please I want some help here i’m also facing the same problem I have siemens 6500 wireless lan router and I’ve tried everything till now I couldn’t solve it limited and no connectivity so any one can help I was trying since 0ne week like I said I tried all fix problem can any one help thanks
